TGK makes the start platform for all the light classes in Norway. The full course is 14 school hours (14x 45) divided over 5 evenings. If you are under 25 years of age you need a full TGK in order to obtain the right to take driving lessons in Norway. If you are above 25 you only need certain parts of it such as Tiltak ved trafikkulykke and Førstehjelp (first aid) and Trafikant i mørket (Night driving). You may practise drive privately or with a school without anything further than a valid ID - card, a red L and an extra mirror. TGK costs 2300,-. The first aid part is 850,-.
Night driving course consists of theory and practical demonstration in a car. It lasts 3 school lesson and is conducted from October untill March. Naturally this course is held at night only. This course costs 1950,-.
The aim on this step is to learn about the car and basic driving, controlling the car and mastering it technically without too much focus on other trafficants. There is no minimum lesson requirement and the training can be done either private or at a school. Step 2 ends with a mandatory vurderingstime where the student and teacher together agree to if the student has reached the aim for this step and has sufficient driving competense to proceed to step 3.
Driving lessons 830,- per 45 mins, Mandatory vurderingstime (lesson) 830,-
4 lessons of mandatory skid pad training. 1 lesson mandatory trinnvurderingstime
The step 3 aim is to learn how to drive in varied traffic. By the end of step 3 the student should be able to drive completely alone. There is no minimum lesson requirement and the training can be done either private or at a school. We recommend a doble lesson on this step to drive either to Oslo or Sandvika. Sikkerhetskurs på bane (skid pad training) is mandatory and is to be conducted at the end of step 3. This is a full day course with theory and practical driving and we usually go to NAFs track at Hønefoss. Step 3 ends with a mandatory veiledningstime where the student and teacher together agree to if the student has reached the aim for this step and has sufficient driving competense to proceed to step 4.
Driving lessons 830,- per 45 mins. Skid pad course 4650,- plus track fee 1400,-. Mandatory trinnvurderingstime 830,-
Mandatory safety course on the road (5 lessons of theory and 8 lessons of driving conducted over several days.)
The aim on step 4 is to enhance the students perception of risk and understanding of the traffic system. It is important that the student drives a lot to ensure that she/he gets as much experience as possible before driving alone. Norwegian Public Road Administration recommend that all students have driven 2000 km before booking the practical exam. Sikkerhetskurs på veg (safety course on the road) is mandatory on step 4 and concludes the mandatory training at a school. As mentioned above it consists of both theory and driving. These courses can be booked with a teacher once step 3 is done.
Total cost 10500,-
